Hello Prince of Wales Families,
Like you, I have no explanation for this weather. As we prepare to enter May it’s certainly put a damper to our Spring plans like walking fieldtrips, outdoor PE and keeping the kids dry at recess times. We were thrilled to have so many families in attendance for the HipHop dance performance last week. Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedules to join us. Special thanks to those of you who were brave enough to come up front and show off some dance moves! Here are a few updates for you for the week ahead:
Friends of Parkland Way and School Council AGM May 7 at 6:30 PM
Thank you all parents for your dedication and efforts to fundraising for our new outdoor learning space and for all of the extras that the casino affords our school to do for our students. We have our AGM for School Council and Friends of Parkland Way on May 7. They are hoping for some increased participation. If you are interested in having more voice in our school, and helping to create opportunities, please consider joining us on May 7.
2026-2027 Calendar Update
The CBE has made a small change to next year’s instructional calendar. The non-instructional day previously identified for Friday, Oct. 23, 2026, was moved to Monday, Oct. 19, 2026, to accommodate the provincial referendum that would see schools utilized as polling sites. The updated calendar is available HERE.
Parent Engagement Night – HipHop Yoga
On Thursday, April 30, in the evening, we will also be hosting a parent yoga night. See more information at the link here.
Volunteer Tea – SAVE the DATE!! May 8 at 8:00–10:00 AM

Staff Appreciation Week - May 11-14
14th School Council is in search of volunteers to show our lovely school staff how much we appreciate all they do for our students, our staff appreciation committee has planned some fun food and beverages in May. Modular Classrooms for Prince of Wales
We are pleased to share that the Government of Alberta has approved 4 new modular classrooms for our school. These classrooms will provide approximately 100 additional student spaces at the school.
The modular classrooms were approved in response to the Calgary Board of Education’s annual request through the Modular Classroom Program.
Site assessments will begin shortly. During this time, you may notice CBE staff or contractors on the school grounds. We will share additional information once assessments and planning are complete and an installation timeline has been confirmed.
