We have a busy month ahead with some fieldtrips, and our HipHop Dance Residency with SoundKreations. This opportunity was made possible by parent fundraising and Casino funds. We will begin our dance lessons mid-April and have a performance during the day and evening on April 23. Information for how to get tickets will be sent out in a separate message later.
Speaking of Casino, did you know we have one coming up this month and would love for any of you, or your relatives to take a shift. They offer incentives to put towards your child’s extracurricular sports outside of school such as hockey and soccer.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!! - CASINO 2026
We are excited to announce our BIGGEST FUNDRAISER of the year!
- May 31 and June 1 at the Deerfoot Inn and Casino.
- Many different shift types and times available. They are all easy and are guided by casino staff. No police clearance or previous experience required! More details in the sign-up link below
- Each volunteer is eligible to receive a $100 credit towards an AGLC accredited group. Most sports teams and extra-curricular groups have one!
This fundraiser raises nearly $80,000 for our school. Funds go towards items students use every day such as paper (yes - paper!) iPad, Chromebooks, art supplies and so much more, as well as to bring residencies and special experiences to our students. We wouldn't have fun events like FitSet Ninja or SoundKreations (hip hop dance) without casino. Follow us on Instagram to learn more! @princeofwalesschoolcouncil

Outdoor Playground and Gathering Space Project Has Major Funding Milestones:
March has been an incredibly exciting month for our park revitalization project! I am thrilled to share some momentous news regarding our fundraising efforts and the future of our school grounds.
We are proud to announce that we have been awarded several significant grants that have brought our vision closer to reality:
Alberta Government CFEP Small Grant: We received a matching grant of $123,443. This substantial investment from the province is a massive boost to our project and has allowed us to reach our funding goal.
Green Cities Foundation: Our school was selected as a 2026 #GreenMyCity grant recipient! We received $13,000 specifically for the "soft scape" elements of the park (such as trees, shrubs, and sod). The Green Cities Foundation is a wonderful community connecting plants and people for a greener, healthier urban climate.
Wildlife Habitat Canada: We were also awarded $3,000 to support local biodiversity and education. Their mission is to conserve wildlife habitat in Canada through partnerships and wise conservation investments, and we are honored to have them as a partner.
Construction Timeline
Thanks to this incredible influx of support, we are officially on schedule for our new playground and outdoor space to be constructed this July and August. We look forward to welcoming students back in September to a transformed environment for play and learning.
In March students had the opportunity to vote on the new playground colours. We are excited to announce that the blue playground is the winner of the three colour options with 46% of the total vote!
How You Can Help
None of this would have been possible without the tireless dedication of the Friends of Parkland Way Society. Their commitment to our students is the engine behind this revitalization. Please show your support for the school’s fundraising society by signing up as a casino volunteer.
