Hello Families,
We wrapped up another busy week at POW. Purdy’s chocolates have arrived and will be sorted and available for you to pick up your purchase on December 10th from 2:30pm – 6:00pm. Thank you for supporting this fundraiser.
Lost and Found
Our Lost and Found is currently overflowing! Please take a moment to pop in during pick-up, or feel free to send your child to check for any missing items. Families who are visiting the school for caroling are also welcome to take a look. All unclaimed items will be donated at the end of December, so please check soon!
Caroling
Get ready to “sleigh” the season with some festive fun! Mrs. Brocke and Mrs. Smyth will be hosting daily caroling in the gym during the last week of school, from December 15–19, each day from 10:30–11:00 a.m. Parents are warmly invited to come “be a-carol” of the joyful noise and join us in the holiday spirit!
Parent Questions/Concerns Regarding Bus Service
We have fielded many questions about our new bus company and who to call or contact to ask questions or share concerns. Our office staff has contacted transportation, and this is what we have been asked to share with families:
Parents can call the service provider directly as the first step if the concern is service related (i.e. late bus, bus app, etc.); we include the service provider contact information at the following link for parents: General Transportation | Busing & Transportation | Schools | Calgary Board of Education. They can also contact our transportation inbox for assistance with inquiries that are not service related or that they feel the service provider has not addressed, or generally any inquiry and it will get directed to the right person.
Most answers to the questions can be found on our website:

Looking to Volunteer?
If you have started the volunteer clearance and you haven’t heard back, please call the front desk at (403)777-6880 for some support! We are so excited to have you help us this year.
No Cell Phones or Valuables at School
We also wanted to remind parents that cell phones are not supposed to be brought to school. We recognize some students bring them for the bus ride to and from school and leave them in their bags during class. Cell phones are not allowed to be used at recess times or during class time. We have been having some problems with phones going missing and we do not have the time and resources to dedicate to finding lost phones. If a phone is lost or stolen, moving forward, we will not assume the responsibility of finding it. Teaching and learning are a priority at Prince of Wales, and we don’t want to cell phones and other toys from home to distract from this.
