Dear Parents/Guardians,

As the City of Calgary continues to grow, the Calgary Board of Education (CBE) aims to provide strong and stable learning environments that keep peers together, while working to alleviate enrolment pressures.

Why am I receiving this notice?

According to CBE records you are living in the community of Parkland and your child(ren), or current school may be impacted by designation and grade changes, beginning in the 2026-27 school year.

This notice will provide you with the information you need to know.

What are the changes for the 2026-27 school year?

Prince of Wales School will change from a kindergarten to Grade 6, to

kindergarten to Grade 4. This means:

  • Parkland students in Grades 5 to 9, will be designated to Wilma Hansen School.
  • Students living in Legacy will continue to attend Wilma Hansen School for Grades 5 to 9.
  • Wilma Hansen School will remain Grade 7 to 9 for all other designated communities.

How do I register my child for the school next year?

Any student new to the CBE is required to register online by visiting our New Student Registration page. Registration for the 2026-27 school year starts January 2026.

CBE students who are currently in Grades 4 to 6 will automatically be registered to Wilma Hansen School. No action is required.

How will students get to school?

Students are eligible for transportation to their designated school if they live beyond the walk zone. Visit Busing & Transportation for more information. For students who are designated to yellow school buses, families must register for transportation by the deadline to have transportation arranged for the start of the 2026-27 school year.
