It was an eventful week at Prince of Wales School. We had The Calgary Opera in to perform Little Red Riding Hood, Fun Lunch, Olympic Gym and Math on the go, not to mention our observation of Black History Month continued, all while the students stayed indoors for recesses due to the cold.

Happy Lunar New Year.

We would like to wish you all health, success and luck in 2026.

Ramadan Mubarak

To all our families that celebrate, we wish you and your loved ones a blessed Ramadan filled with joy, harmony, and countless blessings.

Reminders:

  • This week the grade 1 and 3 students were given permission forms for upcoming field trips, so keep an eye out for that.
  • All grade 1-6 students were given information and forms for our annual Power Hour Clubs. Please ensure that those forms are returned to the teacher Monday.
  • Forms for the Family Movie Night are due February 23.
  • Please check your MyCBE account and pay for fieldtrips and overdue fees.
  • Report Cards will be available for viewing on February 24. The first report card reflects achievement of the outcomes taught throughout the reporting period. The CBE has published some helpful resources for parents around assessment that you can view here. Your child’s teacher is the best resource for you to connect with around assessment of your child’s learning. Parent Teacher Conferences in March are a formal opportunity to connect; however, please reach out with any questions in advance.

Pink Shirt Day

The grade 1 team will be leading our Pink Shirt Day assembly on Wednesday, February 25 at 10:30 AM. You can head down a few minutes before 😊 Remind your children to wear pink as a symbol for bully prevention and choosing kindness!

Pi Day Grade 2 Fundraiser

The grade 2 team is running a fundraiser for our new small playground space! Students can bring in cash donations during the first half of March and pledge them to staff members and teachers of their choice. On Friday, March 13, at 11:15, come to the gym to watch the fun and see your teacher get a pie or two in the face. Thank you in advance for all of your support and donations for our new playground fundraiser!

Grant News

We are excited to share some wonderful news with our school community! Our Park Revitalization Project has been awarded a $3,000 grant from Wildlife Habitat Canada.

Wildlife Habitat Canada’s mission is to "conserve wildlife habitat in Canada through partnerships and wise conservation investments". We were fortunate to receive funding through their Community Conservation Action Program, which supports projects that connect Canadians with nature, engage youth in conservation, and provide meaningful educational conservation programming.

We are incredibly grateful for this support and look forward to the positive impact this funding will have on our students and school grounds.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!! - CASINO 2026

We are excited to announce our BIGGEST FUNDRAISER of the year!

  • May 31 and June 1 at the Deerfoot Inn and Casino.
  • Many different shifts types and times available. They are all easy and are guided by casino staff. No police clearance or previous experience required!  More details in the sign-up link below
  • Each volunteer is eligible to receive a $100 credit towards an AGLC accredited group. Most sports teams and extra-curricular groups have one!

This fundraiser raises nearly $80,000 for our school. Funds go towards items students use every day such as paper (yes - paper!) iPads, Chromebooks, art supplies and so much more, as well as to bring residencies and special experiences to our students.  We wouldn't have fun events like FitSet Ninja or SoundKreations (hip hop dance) without casino.  Follow us on Instagram to learn more! @princeofwalesschoolcouncil
