We have had another busy week at school with gymnastics, registration for next year opening, School Council last night, Healthy Hunger snack days, and our schoolwide study of Indigenous artwork featuring Michaela Goade, author and illustrator, of the 'Moon Song' as part of our ongoing commitment to TRC. Each class will have art displayed in the Learning Commons by end of February for all to enjoy. The grade 5/6 class also had a visit from students at David Thompson where they presented about the Late French Immersion program available to our students for grade 7 in 2026.
School Council
Thank you to those of you who were able to join in person or online to learn more about Wilma Hansen and about the roles we will need help filling for next year to keep Prince of Wales running like a top! Parent support on council makes a significant difference, and I really appreciate your time. Brent Banack, Principal of Wilma Hansen Middle School, gave a thorough presentation to our community last night and all who attended left with many questions answered. Thank you to council and Mr. Banack for your time.
David Thompson School Open House
Families are invited to attend the David Thompson School Open House on February 5 from 6:30–8:00 pm. David Thompson is a vibrant, inclusive middle school, offering English, Continuing French Immersion, and Late French Immersion programs. The evening will include an informational presentation and an opportunity to tour the school and meet staff and students.
Late French Immersion
Late French Immersion is an excellent option for students entering Grade 7 who are interested in learning French and developing strong bilingual skills. The program is designed for students with little or no prior French experience and supports academic success, confidence, and expanded future opportunities.
