Stay Informed:

Hello Prince of Wales Families,

We have enjoyed getting to know students over the past two weeks. Teachers and school staff are working to create established routines, set expectations, and get to know your amazing kids as we start the school year. Prince of Wales School is an incredible place to learn, to belong, and to contribute. We want to invite thank all parents & guardians to join us for our first School Council meeting at 6:30pm this Wednesday in our Learning Commons.

Provincial Screeners for Alberta Students – 2026-27 School Year

For the 2026-27 school year, all Kindergarten to Grade 4 students will be assessed using provincially mandated screeners that measure a learner's proficiency in different literacy and numeracy skills. CBE teachers administer assessments at different points throughout the year. This week, our Grades 1-4 teachers will begin administering the assessments and in January, Kindergarten teachers will begin.

The results of the screeners do not impact a student's report card. Rather, they help teachers plan targeted interventions inside the classroom and monitor growth over time. Results of the screeners will be shared with parents before the Parent Teacher Conferences on November 26 and 27. The Conferences will serve as an opportunity to have a conversation with your child's teacher around their screener results, as well as their classroom learning and achievement of the curriculum outcomes taught this fall. If you have any questions, please reach out to your child's teacher. We are also happy to answer any questions you have.

Dress for the Weather

As a school staff, we love to enjoy our outside learning spaces at different times throughout out our day. We also go outside TWICE for recess breaks. Please help your child by ensuring they have adequate clothing to dress for the weather. That includes appropriate outdoor shoes and a jacket. To help avoid lost items, please LABEL all outdoor attire.

Demographic Verifications and Start up Forms due September 14:

Please check your MyCBE account for the annual forms and verifications. These need to be completed as soon as possible. Please note that the Student Health Plan forms need to be downloaded and completed.
