Staffing Updates
We are pleased to welcome the following staff members to Prince of Wales.
Mr. Noel Johnson in Grade 5/6 replacing Mr. Haul. Mr. Johnson has been working in the classroom all week, alongside Mr. Halun for a smooth transition.
Mrs. Alison Martin in Grade ¾ as our numbers increased and we were able to create an additional classroom. Mrs. Martin will start on Monday with her new classroom.
We are very excited to have them joining our team.
Orange Shirt Day
Classrooms are preparing and learning all about Orange Shirt Day and why we acknowledge it. We encourage all students, staff and community to wear orange on this day. Mr. Depew and Mrs. Palmer’s classrooms will be leading the Orange Shirt Day assembly on Wednesday, September 25 at 1:00pm. Weather depending, we are hoping to have this assembly outside at the back compound. Families are invited to attend.
Conferences
Parent-Teacher conferences are coming up. Conferences are set for Thursday, Sept. 26 from 3:30-7:30 and Friday, Sept. 27 from 8:00-12:00. Please note that Kindergarten has class on Thursday.
The conference booking system is open until Wednesday at midnight. You will need a CBE account to access the booking system. If you need support with this, please contact the office @ 777-6880.
News from School Council & Fundraising
Volunteer Opportunities:
- Healthy Hunger Sorting - September 18th, October 2nd & 16th Healthy Hunger lunches & snacks start this month and we need 5 parents each time to sort and deliver lunches to the students. We meet in Room 18 at 11:10am and should be done in approx. 30 mins. If you would like to help please sign up here: https://bit.ly/healthyhunger24-25
- Casino - October 23 & 24 - This coming fall, PoW school gets a chance to fundraise for our school through the casino. In order to make this happen, we need to cover all casino shifts. You do not need police clearance to volunteer for the casino so any adult in your family/friend circle is able to sign up: https://bit.ly/POWCasino2024
